Homeless Symposium Huge Success
Wow! I am still overwhelmed and humbled by the caring and loving natures attendees showed toward the homeless in San Angelo at the 2014 Symposium – Breaking The Cycle of Homelessness held on November 19, 2014. What I found most amazing is the sheer number of organizations, churches and individuals working to help comfort and lift up our neighbors who are living in dire poverty or are homeless.
We Were Getting It
As the Haven for Hope staff shared their experiences with implementing best practices in San Antonio, I saw faces light up and imaginations running wild – we were getting it. Their message was simple – we can do more together, in collaboration, than we can individually to break the cycle of homelessness in San Angelo.
We had 50 attendees at the symposium representing non-profit and for-profit organizations, churches, professionals and several people who have banded together to do good works.
Let me add a little chastisement here – the only parts of our city who were not represented were our city and county government officials. Ladies and gentlemen, we cannot do this without you.
In an effort to keep the momentum moving forward, the Concho Valley Homeless Planning Coalition is holding a special meeting on December 10, 2014. Please come, share your ideas, and help us to set goals and timelines to address this issue in our community. We want to do better and we can do better…with your help. Click here for details.
